Welcome Volt owners,

I have built this site to bring together Volt owners to share experiences. The site is free to use and your information will not be sold or rented to anyone. If you are thinking of purchasing a Volt this is a great site to learn about the advantages of the car. I will be blogging about my experience of owning my Volt.

If you would like to blog on our site drop me note on the contact page and I will set you up.

Some forwarded me this email about the Volt and I thought I would correct the facts.   "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." Plato   Cost to operate a Chevy Volt Eric Bolling (Fox Business Channel's Follow the Money) test drove the Chevy Volt at the invitation of General Motors.   For four days in a row, the fully charged battery lasted only 25 miles before the Volt switched to the reserve gasoline engine. (true when it very cold out but the in the summer you get 50. When you are gas you still get 35 MPG)   Eric calculated the car got 30 mpg including the 25 miles it ran on the battery. So, the range including the 9 gallon gas tank and the 16 kwh battery is approximately 270 miles. (My car after 1 year is getting 128 mpg and I have over 15,000 miles on my car)   It will take you 4 1/2 hours to drive 270 miles at 60 mph. Then add 10 hours to charge the battery and you have a total trip time of 14.5 hours. In a typical road trip your average speed (including charging time) would be 20 mph. (it only takes 3 ½ hours to charge)...

It’s my Volt’s Birthday

One year ago on Feb 10, 2011 I picked up my Volt 974 from Long Island New York with my daughter, Emily. We flew from Lansing, MI to pick the car up at Atlantic Chevrolet. I was a kid in a candy store driving the car off the lot had the biggest smile on my face. The smile is still on my face because I enjoy the car so much.

I have been in local newspapers, interviewed for a book, on radio shows, in a video shoot at GM Proving Grounds, and even have my own trading card. I have done this for the love of driving an electric car. Many ask how much is GM paying me and I tell them I don’t get a penny but get to save money on gas. Along the way I have gotten to meet Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson from NASCAR, government leaders from Michigan, and Kristen Zimmerman from GM.

I have traveled from New York to Michigan in a snow storm, driven on the...

Several of my friends in NJ have commented to me that my Volt is a lot like there Cadillacs.

Definetely the Volt seems to be made to a very high standard and is quite luxurious.I figured that they would make one. Go check out the new Cadillac ELR extended range electric vehicle.  Supposedly GM is starting production of this Vehicle.

On Green Car Reports.com John Voelcker has a good read on how GM is to enhance the Volt Battery.

If you want the Volt and other plug-ins to continue to have a tax credit, make sure your representatives know your opinion or we'll lose it!

We are at Kalahari in Ohio and I asked if I could charge my car. They bent over backwards to find a place to charge. They are letting me charge at the maintenance garage and give me a ride to the front door. I am the talk of the staff. Some wanted to park it in front so everyone could see it. I did home some problems with the power cord that allowed me to plug into and did not get a full charge. I have requested they put a plug on outside their maintenance garage.

Just wanted to give a shout out and say how well my Volt is performing in Vermont in very cold weather. Showed less distance around 29 on estimate battery distance. However the engine came on for a few minutes twice during my drive due to Temperature. My trip was 53 miles long and the Volt ended up getting 38.9 miles of electric distance at such a cold temperature. A testament to how well the liquid cooling and heating for the battery actually work. Very impressed .

I am happy to report that Volt 974 has 10,000 electric and 3,300 gas miles on it. Most of my charging has been done at home with my 220 charger. The Lansing Board of Water and Light gives a reduce rate after 11pm so my car is setup for delayed charging. In February 2011, my daughter and I flew to Long Island, NY to purchase and drive our Volt back to Lansing, Michigan.

I love my Volt and have no concern over the battery fires in the Volt and feel that GM has been great thru my experience with the car. I feel the NHTSA investigation is a good thing because help define the procedures on how to deal with crashed electric vehicles.
